There were so many people watching the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight that it broke the streaming service. During the fight, viewers were complaining that they could not access the fight or that the buffering and freezing were causing an unpleasant viewing experience, but that didn’t stop more than 100 million people from tuning in. According to Netflix, there were 65 million live concurrent streams and 108 million total live viewers tuning in to watch the historic boxing fight. The co-main event, Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 averaged 74 million live global viewers and is now the most-watched professional women’s sporting event ever in the U.S. with 47 million viewers. Many fans felt that the fight was the highlight of the evening, even over the main event. The event was also streamed in more than 6000 bars and restaurants in the US, setting the record for commercial distribution of a combat sports event

Everyone knew the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight would be heavily watched, but no one imagined how much they’d make on ticket sales. According to a press release from Most Valuable Promotions, the gate was $18.1 million which makes it the biggest gate in combat sports history to take place outside of Las Vegas. It also earned the nod as the ninth-highest ever in US history and set a record as the highest-grossing combat sports event at AT&T Stadium. The total figure for revenue was $18,117,072 which is more than double the $9 million gate that Canelo Álvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders in 2021 held previously. Comparatively, the average ticket price for Tyson vs. Paul was about $304, whereas Canelo’s event was about $136, the release says. Breaking records is nothing new for Paul

On Thursday in Las Vegas, Mike Tyson spoke to the media while promoting a new energy pouch LF* Go! The presser, designed to hype the product, led to questions about Tyson’s upcoming fight with Jake Paul. Tyson is stepping back into the boxing ring at 58 years old to fight Paul (who is just 27 years old) on Nov. 15 in Texas. When asked what he plans to bring to the table versus Paul he simply said, “a lot of pain.” Tyson also revealed that his fight camps are just slightly different in this stage of his career noting his bigger need for recovery and his ability to utilize methods like supplements, cold therapy, and more. He noted that those things weren’t around in his early career. “It hasn’t changed much,” Tyson said.
