Was that directly under the chin? That was the question many observers were asking in the immediate aftermath of Amanda Lemos ’ first-round submission win over Miranda Granger at UFC on ESPN+ 23 in South Korea on Saturday. It certainly didn’t seem like it at first, but clearly the pressure of the offset rear-naked choke was too much for Granger, who was rendered unconscious in their women’s strawweight contest at Busan’s Sajik Arena. After a back-and-forth first round on the mat, Lemos was able to scramble and latch onto Granger’s neck.

Miranda Granger had a short night at the office Saturday and went home with some new hardware. But if she has her way in the near future, she might not be hanging onto that hardware for long. Granger (6-0) needed just 41 seconds to finish Heloisa Azevedo (4-2) with a standing guillotine choke in the CFFC 75 main event. In the process, Granger won the promotion’s inaugural women’s strawweight title in a bout streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, Calif

Undefeated and ‘addicted to fighting,’ CFFC 75′s Miranda Granger anxious for her next hit

Miranda Granger admits it may sound odd, but she isn’t fighting just because she wants to – she does it because she needs to. “As weird as it sounds, I’m addicted to fighting, so I need to get in there and get that hit of fighting again,” Granger told MMA Junkie. “I’m just excited. I’m really, really excited. I like pressure, so I feel like the more pressure, the better I do.” Granger began her martial arts training at just 4 years old, in her native Washington.

CFFC announces dual May events, including four championship fights

CFFC will host a pair of events during an eight-day stretch in May, with four championship fights on the dual cards, which will both stream on UFC Fight Pass. CFFC officials recently announced the two events, with the first serving as CFFC 74 on May 17 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Etess Arena in Atlantic City, N.J. Three title fights fill the night’s featured slots, with interim lightweight champion Cesar Balmaceda (6-0), featherweight champion Pat Sabatini (10-2) and bantamweight champion Alexander Keshtov (9-0) all defending their titles.

One of MMA’s top regional organizations, Cage Fury Fighting Championships, is the latest addition to the UFC Fight Pass lineup. MMAjunkie today learned from promotion officials that CFFC has agreed to a new media rights agreement with the UFC’s digital streaming service that commences with CFFC 71, which takes place Dec. 14 at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
