Quinn Mulhern (18-3) was hoping to rebound from a technical knockout loss in his UFC debut with a win at UFC Fight Night 32 . The opportunity to capture his first UFC victory will have to wait for a later date. Mulhern was scheduled to face Thiago Tavares at UFC Fight Night 32 on Nov. 9, but an injury has forced the lightweight off the card. Justin Salas has agreed to replace Mulhern against Tavares on short notice. UFC officials confirmed the injury and opponent change on Friday

A fractured hand has forced lightweight Quinn Mulhern (18-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to withdraw from a scheduled matchup with Ryan Couture (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 164. Stepping in for the injured fighter is “The Ultimate Fighter 15″ finalist Al Iaquinta (5-2-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who returns after an injury forced him to withdraw from a matchup with Joe Proctor at UFC 159. The Las Vegas Sun first reported the switch, which then was confirmed by UFC officials. UFC 164 takes place Aug. 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The event’s main-card airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook

Ryan Couture and Quinn Mulhern , two former Strikeforce fighters, are set to square off in a lightweight bout at UFC 164 on Aug. 31 in Milwaukee. UFC officials announced the new bout on Tuesday. Couture and Mulhern is each making his sophomore appearance for the promotion, and each lost his UFC debut. Couture (6-2) was on a four-fight streak entering the Octagon, but couldn’t keep the momentum going when he faced Ross Pearson at UFC on Fuel TV 9 in Sweden. Pearson took the fight to Couture, defeating him by TKO stoppage late in the second round. Mulhern (18-5) suffered a TKO loss to Rick Story in his Octagon debut at UFC 158. That bout, like the majority of Mulhern’s past bouts, was at welterweight

Former King of the Cage welterweight champion Quinn Mulhern (18-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is dropping to lightweight, and he’ll meet fellow Strikeforce vet Ryan Couture (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 164. UFC officials today announced the new contest. Featuring a lightweight title fight between current champion Benson Henderson and top contender T.J. Grant , UFC 164 takes place Aug. 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The evening’s main card airs on pay-per-view. Couture vs. Mulhern is expected to be part of the prelims, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook
