Mike Davis hadn’t fought for 18 months. In case anyone forgot him, he returned with a statement Saturday at UFC Fight Night 239 . On the preliminary card at the UFC Apex, Davis (10-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) became the first opponent to finish Israel’s Natan Levy (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), who he submitted at 1:43 of Round 2. Davis edged the first round, but his success on the scorecards didn’t hinder his determination to finish. When the fight hit the canvas in Round 2, Davis worked his way to an arm-triangle choke from mount, squeezed, and got the tap.

LAS VEGAS – Natan Levy learned a big lesson in his UFC debut and put that into action Saturday. Levy wanted to show off his power against Rafa Garcia this past November. And while the average observer would say Levy is positively ripped for a 155-pounder, he said he had to figure out after his decision loss that showcasing his heavy hands might not always be the path to victory. At UFC on ESPN 35, Levy (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) took a unanimous decision from Mike Breeden (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) for his first win in the promotion. And though he slowed down in the third round after looking for finishes in the first two frames, he still thinks he brought the lesson from the Garcia fight into the Breeden bout

Rafa Garcia will be in search of his first octagon win when he meets an unbeaten prospect. Garcia (12-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) takes on Natan Levy (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at the UFC’s Nov. 20 Fight Night event expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Two people with knowledge of the booking informed MMA Junkie of the matchup Monday but asked to remain anonymous since the UFC has yet to make an official announcement. Garcia has lost his first two octagon bouts. After amassing a perfect 12-0 record en route to capturing the Combate Americas lightweight title, Garcia dropped back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Nasrat Haqparast and, most recently, Chris Gruetzemacher in July.
