Mansur Abdul-Malik looked like he was on the verge of an upset loss in the opening round at UFC Fight Night 252 , but he showed major perseverance to defeat Nick Klein . Klein (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) nearly pulled off a shocker in the opening round of the middleweight bout at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle when he landed a vicious spinning back elbow that rocked Abdul-Malik (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and had the betting favorite of more than 12-1 on skates. Abdul-Malik survived the round and in the second, confidently took over by pushed Klein to the mat then battered him with punches until the referee stepped in at the 3:24 mark of Round 2. Nick Klein steps into short-notice debut at UFC Fight Night 252 vs. Mansur Abdul-Malik

Nick Klein has his first UFC assignment and it comes on short notice. However, Klein (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is no stranger to answering the call when needed. In September, he earned his UFC contract on days’ notice.

Week 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series (2024) took place on Tuesday in Las Vegas, and we’re grading the winners from the five-fight card, which streamed on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex. With a simple but digestible format that has had the MMA fanbase responding, this series has shown to have legs in multiple ways while serving as a crockpot for contenders the UFC matchmakers can use to fill their roster for future events. With that trend in mind, I once again will be taking a look at the winning fighters, regardless of whether or not they won a UFC contract, and grading their performances in regard to their probability of returning to a UFC stage.

The tenth and final week of Dana White’s Contender Series’ eighth season took place on Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The fight promotion features up and coming fighters with an opportunity to earn a UFC contract. The five-bout fight card was headlined by a middleweight bout between Nick Klein and Heraldo Souza. Klein finished Souza via rear-naked choke in just 37 seconds. The quick finish earned Klein one of the contracts
