MELBOURNE, Australia – Marlon Vera put Ning Guangyou down, but couldn’t put him away. After a seesaw battle over the course of three hard rounds, Vera (8-3-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) edged out Guangyou (5-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) by the skin of his teeth, winning a unanimous decision victory with scores of 29-28 across the board. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 101 event at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Visa issues force Ning Guangyou out of UFC on FOX 21 fight with Marlon Vera

Saturday’s UFC return to Vancouver will have to go on with one less fight. Promotion officials have announced the bantamweight fight between Ning Guangyou (5-3-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Marlon Vera (7-3-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC on FOX 21 has been scrapped due to visa issues for Guangyou, from China. UFC officials did not say which event the fight might be moved to, only that it will not take place in Vancouver. UFC on FOX 21 takes place Saturday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. It airs on FOX following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass

UFC bantamweight Ning Guangyou has been cleared of wrongdoing after testing positive for trace amounts of clenbuterol, U.S. Anti-Doping Agency officials announced today. The UFC’s anti-doping partner said Guangyou, who won the inaugural “The Ultimate Fighter: China,” was positive for the substance – banned for its off-label use as an anabolic agent – following an out-of-competition drug test administered on May 19. But because he ingested it “without fault or negligence,” he won’t face a disciplinary action. “USADA reviewed all of the evidence, including the athlete’s whereabouts, dietary habits, and the laboratory reports demonstrating very low parts per billion concentrations of the prohibited substance in the athlete’s urine sample, and concluded that the presence of clenbuterol in the athlete’s sample very likely resulted from clenbuterol contaminated meat consumed in China,” USADA’s statement read
