Bellator middleweight Norbert Novenyi Jr. granted release from PFL

Add Norbert Novenyi Jr. to the list of fighters no longer on the PFL roster. Like James Gallagher and several others, longtime Bellator fighter Novenyi Jr. (7-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) requested his release from PFL and he was granted his request.

LONDON – Norbert Novenyi Jr. sees his quick knockout at Bellator 297 as a turning point in his career. The undefeated London Shootfighters prospect needed just 46 seconds to stop Kamil Oniszczuk in June – his sixth finish in seven professional wins. “Some of the comments and tweets I read after the fight, I feel like now people are understanding the kind of level I’m on and a lot of people are taking me seriously,” Novenyi told MMA Junkie.

This past February, middleweight Norbert Novenyi Jr. returned to action following a 28-month layoff from fighting largely due to a torn ACL. After having waited so long to fight again, Novenyi was able to return in style, defeating Andy Manzolo at Bellator 291 with a first round TKO, marking Norbert’s sixth straight victory to start his pro career.

Following a torn ACL at the end of 2021, middleweight Norbert Novenyi Jr. spent all of 2022 on the shelf recovering, rehabbing, and returning to the form he had prior to the injury. While the downtime did present some challenges, Novenyi is nonetheless in an upbeat mood as he looks to return to action in 2023. “The first half of my 2022 was me recovering and doing my rehab, and the second half was trying to catch up from all the lost time,” Novenyi told MMAWeekly.com. “I’m lucky it was just four and a half months, but it was just hard work the whole time, but now we’re here getting ready for a fight.
