KSW lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot will make a swift turnaround Saturday when he takes on Marian Ziolkowski in the latest defense of his 155-pound title at KSW 54 in Warsaw, Poland. Gamrot (16-0) will take on Ziolkowski (21-7-1), who was drafted in on short notice after original title challenger Shamil Musaev sustained a knee injury ahead of the event, as the Polish champion attempts to complete the fourth defense of his title. That tally should have been higher, but his most recent outing, against Northern Irish rival Norman Parke , was eventually contested as a non-title catchweight fight after Parke failed to make championship weight at KSW 53

After two controversial fights built his feud with Mateusz Gamrot into one of the most heated rivalries in Polish promotion KSW, Norman Parke is determined to make a statement in their third meeting and walk away with the undisputed lightweight title. Parke (28-6-1 MMA, 4-1 KSW) won the interim lightweight belt with victory over Marcin Wrzocek last year at KSW 50 in London to put himself in pole position to face old rival and undefeated lightweight champ Gamrot (15-0 MMA, 11-0 KSW) for a third time. Now the Northern Irishman says there’s plenty to settle when they face off behind closed doors in Warsaw at KSW 53 on Saturday. “I think it’s the biggest fight that KSW could make,” he told MMA Junkie ahead of the fight. “Given how the last two fights went, there’s nothing really decisive. He’s got his say on what he thinks went down in those two fights, and I’ve had my opinion as well

Polish promotion KSW returns to action on July 11 with a bonafide grudge match at the top of the card, as undefeated lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot returns to action against interim champ Norman Parke . The main event bout in Warsaw, Poland will complete a trilogy of fights involving the dueling 155-pounders in a rivalry that has been filled with bad blood. Their first bout at “KSW 39: Colosseum” ended in a unanimous decision victory for Poland’s Gamrot (15-0 MMA, 11-0 KSW) after a highly-competitive clash that some observers felt Parke (28-6-1 MMA, 4-1 KSW) had done enough to win. The bout also featured a controversial incident where Parke accused Gamrot of biting his fingers during the fight. In response, Gamrot accused the Northern Irishman of pushing his fingers into his mouth.

Saturday’s card, which streams live on DAZN from Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, is headlined by former champ Michal Materla (27-6) against former UFC competitor Scott Askham (17-4) for the promotion’s vacant middleweight title. In the co-feature, Roberto Soldic (15-3) defends his welterweight title against undefeated challenger Krystian Kaszubowski (7-0). Other bouts of note include heavyweight Karol Bedorf (15-4) vs. Damian Grabowski (21-5), “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” winner Norman Parke (26-6-1) against Artur Sowinski (19-10); and fitness model and social media giant Erko Jun (2-0) against Poland’s Akop Szostak (3-2).

Poland’s leading MMA promotion, KSW, returns to action Saturday with “KSW 47: De Fries vs. Narkun,” which streams live on DAZN from Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. Today, several of the card’s featured fighters came together for open workouts. In the main event, KSW heavyweight champion Phil De Fries (16-6) puts his title on the line against light heavyweight title holder Tomasz Narkun (16-2). Both champs were featured in the session. Former multi-time world’s strongest man winner Mariusz Pudzianowski (12-6) also took to the mats ahead of his co-main event with former weightlifting champion Szymon Kolecki (6-1)
