Tonight’s WSOF 33 event has lost its championship headliner. Ozzy Dugulubgov (8-2) has suffered an undisclosed illness and been forced out of his title fight with lightweight champion Justin Gaethje (16-0). WSOF President Ray Sefo confirmed the scratch with MMAjunkie due to “medical concerns.” A replacement won’t be sought on such short notice, and the main card will continue with five bouts

Justin Gaethje Undefeated WSOF lightweight champ Justin Gaethje (16-0) will likely meet six-time WSOF veteran Ozzy Dugulubgov (8-2) in his next title defense. WSOF President Ray Sefo recently revealed the plan on WSOF.com . “We’re still working out the details, but right now, I’m leaning toward going with Ozzy Dugulubgov for that shot,” Sefo wrote. “Ozzy debuted with us back in 2013, on just our second event. He’s gone 5-1 in his six World Series of Fighting appearances, and that one loss came via split decision.

Lucas Montoya (8-4) found that out the hard way at Friday’s WSOF 20, where he blocked a kick from Ozzy Dugulubgov (7-2) that wound up breaking his arm, leading to a TKO win for Dugulubgov. The fight took place at Foxwoods MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., and aired on NBCSN.
