It’s been one of the worst kept secrets in TV land, but Fuel TV is officially going to get the re-branding treatment on Aug. 17 when parent company Fox launches Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. The promotional focus has been almost entirely on the launch of Fox Sports 1, which itself is a re-branding of Fox’s Speed Channel. Fox Sports 2 has been getting the soft launch treatment, since it plays a supporting role to Fox Sports 1’s lead. Bellator has been rumored to be joining the pay-per-view fray, possibly with a Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match… and possibly putting that boxing match up against the UFC’s big year-end pay-per-view, which features the Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva and Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate rematches. That hasn’t been made official yet, but if Bellator and parent company Viacom do enter the pay-per-view realm, UFC president Dana White welcomes them, with a warning.

Viacom is expected to announce plans to go head-to-head with pay-per-view juggernaut Zuffa LLC and its UFC 168 offering at next week’s Bellator 97 event on Spike TV. An unveiling of Bellator fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s plans with the promotion will likely include a pay-per-view boxing match with former multi-division boxing champ Roy Jones Jr., multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). The fight is expected to take place at the end of the year, though a date and weight class for the bout could not immediately be confirmed. It’s also unclear how the event will be branded given Bellator and parent company Viacom’s focus on MMA. “We’ve been talking to Roy and his people over a potential ‘Rampage’ vs. Roy fight for over seven months,” a representative from Jackson’s longtime team, Wolfslair MMA, told MMAjunkie.com. Rampage Jackson Eyes Heavyweight Fights for Bellator, Movies for Paramount

The news broke on Tuesday that Bellator MMA , in combination with TNA Wrestling and Spike TV, had signed UFC and Pride veteran Quinton “Rampage” Jackson to a multi-faceted, multi-year contract. The deal encompasses mixed martial arts competition for Bellator, professional wrestling for TNA, and various movie and media opportunities via Spike and parent company Viacom. Rampage fielded questions from the media on Wednesday, saying that the deal has renewed his passion for fighting, and added that he is considering fighting for Bellator at heavyweight. He had been competing at 205 pounds in his final days with Pride FC and during his UFC tenure. “I’m not gonna lie. I lost a lot of love for MMA when I was back in the UFC ,” Rampage declared.
