Brandon Vera Brandon Vera issued an earmuffs warning to anyone sensitive to harsh language with a video posted on his Facebook page. Sometimes, Vera said, a few four-letter words are what “is called for.” The reason? Chi Lewis Parry (6-0) was scheduled to fight Vera (13-7) on Friday at ONE Championship 35 for the inaugural heavyweight title. But Lewis Parry didn’t submit his medical and drug tests, then skipped out on his flight from London to the Philippines

Brandon Vera meets Cheng, not Lewis Parry, in Friday’s ONE Championship 35 title fight

Brandon Vera Brandon Vera has a new opponent for Friday’s title fight at ONE Championship 35. Company president Victor Cui today announced Paul Cheng (5-1) has replaced Chi Lewis Parry (6-0), and he now fights former UFC fighter Vera (13-7) for the organization’s inaugural heavyweight title. “ONE Championship 35: Spirit of Champions” takes place Dec. 11 in the Philippines at Manila’s Mall of Asia Arena. It streams as an online pay-per-view in North America. According to Cui, Lewis Parry “failed to submit his medical results and his drug tests” and “decided not to board the plane departing from London to Manila.” His full announcement (via Facebook ): As of this morning, Lewis Parry hadn’t addressed the change or Cui’s allegations.

‘ONE 26: Valor of Champions’ adds Cheng vs. Subora, Bunrad vs. Eustaquio

Next month’s “ONE 26: Valor of Champions” event has added a pair of fights to the lineup in the Philippines. Anatpong Bunrad (4-1) will meet Geje Eustaquio (6-3), of the Philippines, in a flyweight bout. And Paul Cheng (5-1), of Taiwan, will take on Igor Subora (5-2) at heavyweight.

‘ONE FC 18: War of Dragons’ set for July 11 debut in Taiwan

ONE FC will take its show to Taiwan for the first time next month for “ONE FC 18: War of Dragons.” The promotion announced its next event on Monday, including the addition of the first four fights to the bill. ONE FC 18 will take place July 11 at National Taiwan University Sports Center in Taipei City, Taiwan. The card will air in North America via an online pay-per-view.

The featherweight title fight served as the headliner of Fridays’ “ONE FC 13: Moment of Truth” event, which took place at Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines and aired streamed via online pay-per-view. The two started very patiently, neither willing to overcommit in the opening round. The tepid pace earned both fighters a warning in the second before Oishi finally landed with short countershots that wobbled Banario and foreshadowed what was to come. Ex-football player Paul Cheng continues to find MMA footing at ONE FC 13

ONE FC heavyweight Paul Cheng got his start in competitive MMA much later than the average fighter. Not to say Cheng is unfamiliar with professional sports, but up until the past few years, the Canadian was seen duking it out on the gridiron in the Canadian Football League. A little more than two years into his MMA career, though, and Cheng is truly beginning to adapt to his new profession and feels his time as an athlete has helped him transition to his new sport better than most. “This is not the first time I’ve been a professional athlete,” Cheng told MMAjunkie.
