Paul Daley off Gamebred Boxing 4 due to visa issues, says Jorge Masvidal

Gamebred Boxing 4 features numerous names notable to MMA fans, but Paul Daley is no longer one of them. Gamebred Boxing boss and UFC star Jorge Masvidal recently revealed on MMA Junkie Radio that Daley’s boxing debut is off (or at least delayed) as work papers are figured out. Daley was expected to fight fellow UFC alum Markus Perez in a six-round bout at the April 1 event, which takes place at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee and streams on UFC Fight Pass pay-per-view

Anthony Pettis fighting a legend in his next outing, but not in MMA. The former UFC and WEC lightweight champion is scheduled to take on former boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. in the main event of Gamebred Boxing 4 on April 1 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

Paul Daley wrote the final chapter of his MMA career at Bellator 281, or did he? Fighting at home in London at SSE Arena, Daley (44-18-2 MMA, 9-6 BMMA) created what some would consider the perfect ending to a professional career that started in 2003. Daley overcame grappling challenges presented by Wendell Giacomo to deliver one last signature “Semtex” style knockout in the second round. A fighter can’t ask for a much better swan song than scoring a knockout victory on home soil.

LONDON – Scott Coker wonders if Bellator 281 really was the final time we’ll see Paul Daley compete. Heading into this past Friday’s Bellator 281 event at OVO Arena Wembley, Daley (44-18-2 MMA, 9-6 BMMA) reiterated that his fight with Wendell Giacomo would be the last of his career. Daley had to battle some early adversity but wound up knocking out Giacomo in what was an incredibly emotional moment for the British MMA veteran. Although Daley brought his mother into the cage to celebrate, Coker said that following the fight, he was already contacting his team.

LONDON – Paul Daley may have been down as Round 2 was coming to a close at Bellator 281, but he remained patient. Daley (44-18-2 MMA, 9-6 BMMA) had his back taken by Wendell Giacomo in Round 1 of their main card bout Friday at OVO Arena Wembley in London and found himself on the mat once more in Round 2. But with a minute left in the second round, Daley decided he had enough and was able to disengage from Giacomo, who was visibly starting to slow down.

At Bellator 281 in London, “Semtex” detonated one last time with a crushing right hand to the jaw of Wendell Giacomo to cap off his exciting MMA career. It wasn’t an easy path to the final blow, but Daley overcame the grappling prowess of Giacomo to connect in a flurry, ending the fight at 4:09 in the second round. Daley celebrated the win inside the cage with his family, as he walks away from the sport after recording his 44th professional MMA victory. LONDON – Paul Daley reveals he almost laced up the boxing gloves, but rejected the offer. Daley (23-18-2 MMA, 9-5 BMMA) meets Wendell Giacomo (9-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) Friday at OVO Arena Wembley in London, where he plans on making his final walk. But prior to this fight booking, Daley says he was offered a boxing match against ex-UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy, but opted not to take it out of respect to their prior relationship growing up. Hardy will be boxing Diego Sanchez instead in an eight, two-minute round exhibition boxing bout on July 2 at AO Arena in Manchester, England. “I had an offer to fight Dan, and I’m not even sure if Dan knows, but I have email proof and text proof that I was offered a very lucrative opportunity to fight a former teammate,” Daley told MMA Junkie Wednesday at Bellator 281 media day
