Nine fighters have parted ways with Bellator, including a pair of notable veterans. Bellator officials informed MMA Junkie that former UFC standout Roger Huerta and longtime featherweight Brandon Girtz are among those who have departed the promotion. Paul Redmond ’s return to action on home soil at Bellator Europe 7 will go ahead, despite a minor bump in the road during the leadup. Ireland’s Redmond (15-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) was set to face England’s Ryan Scope in a lightweight preliminary matchup on Feb. 22’s dual-card event in Dublin, almost a year to the day since his last appearance inside the Bellator cage.

Paul Redmond vs. Ryan Scope added to Bellator Europe 7 in Dublin

Bellator Europe 7 card has another notable Irish name on the card. Ex-UFC fighter Paul Redmond (15-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) will take on Ryan Scope (11-3 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) on Feb. 22 in Dublin, the promotion announced Monday. Redmond is coming off a unanimous decision win over Charlie Leary at Bellator 217 in February, notching his second promotional victory.

Paul Redmond says win over Brandon Girtz at Bellator 227 would be huge for his career

Paul Redmond knows he’s in for a tough fight come Sept. 27. He will take on Brandon Girtz at Bellator 227, as Redmond (15-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) looks to take a big leap forward in his Bellator career. “Heavy hands,” Redmond said on Girtz at the Bellator Dublin press conference . “He’s a big strong lad, he looks to swing, a lot of knockouts on his record. Similar amount of fights as myself, 16 wins, 8 losses, I’ve got 15-8 so he’s got one more fight than me and he’s done most of them in the Bellator cage.
