Paulie Malignaggi: ‘I don’t think Ben Askren can ever call himself a fighter ever again’

Paulie Malignaggi thinks Ben Askren has no right to call himself a fighter anymore. Askren will make his professional boxing debut when he faces YouTube star Jake Paul in an eight-round bout on April 17 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta . Despite Askren’s accolades in combat sports, which include two NCAA wrestling national championships and MMA titles under both the Bellator and ONE Championship banners, Malignaggi was rather dismissive of him. He ripped Askren’s striking and considers him an ideal matchup for Paul. “In reality, I think he’s (Paul) where he should be after two years,” Malignaggi said on “The Schmozone” podcast.

It was a much more refined and technical performance by Knight compared to first outing with Lobov, and now he wants former boxing world champion Malignaggi. BKFC chief David Feldman: Malignaggi vs. Lobov trending toward 200,000 PPV buys

Pay-per-view buys for a bare-knuckle showdown between Artem Lobov and Paulie Malignaggi are still coming in. But promoter David Feldman said the June 22 event is trending to be the most successful to date for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships. Feldman estimates BKFC 6, which took place in Tampa, Fla., will draw around 200,000 buys when the final numbers are tallied. “We got our digital numbers right away,” Feldman told MMA Junkie. “In April, we did a certain amount, and in June, we did six times that digitally. Paulie Malignaggi was not happy with the judges’ scorecards after suffering a unanimous-decision loss to Artem Lobov in his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut this past Saturday. BKFC 6 took place in Tampa, Fla., and all three judges scored the fight 48-47, in favor of Lobov. A baffled Malignaggi went off on the judges in the post-fight press conference .
