Featherweights Charles Oliveira (16-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and Estevan Payan (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) are the latest additions to this fall’s UFC 166 lineup. The Houston Chronicle first reported the matchup, which UFC officials later confirmed. The fight is expected for the event’s preliminary-card, though it’s not clear whether it will serve on the FOX Sports 1-televised or Facebook-streamed portion. UFC 166 takes place Oct. 19 at Houston’s Toyota Center and is headlined by a rubber match between heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and ex-champ Junior dos Santos . Despite a good showing in his most recent outing, Oliveira is badly in need of a win in the UFC. The Texas-based Brazilian took on ex-champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 162 and lost a unanimous decision. Previously, he was knocked out by Cub Swanson at UFC 152

A featherweight match between Charles Oliveira and Estevan Payan has been added to the UFC 166 fight card slated for Oct. 19 in Houston. Oliveira (16-4-1) debuted in the UFC as an undefeated fighter against Darren Elkins in August 2010, winning by submission. He has gone 4-4-1 during his UFC tenure and is coming off back-to-back losses Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar in his last two outings. Oliveira has faced nothing but top competition since arriving in the organization, but is in desperate need of a victory. Payan (14-4, 1 no contest) made his UFC debut against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 160 on May 25, losing by unanimous decision. He’ll be looking to earn his first UFC win when he faces Oliveira. Jeremy Stephens will square off with Rony Jason at an as yet unannounced UFC Fight Night event expected for Oct. 9 in Brazil . MMAWeekly.com sources indicated that verbal agreements are in place for the bout. Stephens (21-9) staved off a pink slip, bouncing back from three consecutive losses, by dropping down to the featherweight division. He won his 145-pound debut by defeating Estevan Payan by unanimous decision at UFC 160 in May. Stephens had spent the previous five years of his UFC tenure bouncing back and forth between wins and losses. He hopes to find new life at featherweight, but faces a difficult next step
