Week 5 of the PFL’s second season got off to a rough start when three fighters missed at the scale at Wednesday’s weigh-in. A lightweight bout between Season 1 champ Natan Schulte and Jesse Ronson is now set for Thursday’s fight card after their respective opponents came in heavy. PFL 2019: Week 5 takes place at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J.

Chris Wade predicts first-round submission over Akhmed Aliev at PFL 2019, Week 5

Chris Wade is set to headline PFL 5 close to home and is looking to make a statement. Speaking recently to MMA Junkie Radio , Wade (15-5 MMA, 1-1 PFL) said he sees himself taking Aliev out in the first round. “Submission,” Wade said. “I take him down. Let’s go first, why not.” And he believes that Aliev (18-4 MMA, 1-0 PFL) hasn’t faced an opponent quite like him, someone who possesses the wrestling background and experience he does. “We’ve done a lot of tape watching on him and I got to take a look at some of the higher level fighters he’s gone against,” Wade said.

Andre Harrison ’s opponent Thursday at PFL 5, Movlid Khaibulaev , is coming off a 10-second knockout of Damon Jackson at PFL Week 2, a spectacular, highlight-reel finish. A couple months later at UFC 239, Jorge Masvidal scored a record-breaking flying knee knockout over Ben Askren in just five seconds, and it seems like everybody is talking about the flying knee as a perfect counter strike for when a wrestler decides to shoot.
