UFC lightweight Piotr Hallman ‘s suspension has been upheld after a second drug test confirmed the presence of the steroid drostanolone. The Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) confirmed with MMAjunkie that Hallmann (15-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) requested the commission test the “B” sample from his post-fight urine test at UFC Fight Night 51, where he lost a split decision loss to Gleison Tibau (30-10 MMA, 15-8 UFC) at the Sept. 13 event in Brasilia, Brazil. The UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory tested the sample and again found drostanolone, which prompted CABMMA to uphold a nine-month suspension issued to Hallman after his “A” sample came back positive.

Hallman-Tibau, Johnson-Pepey booked for UFC Fight Night 51 in Brazil

The UFC’s September return to Brazil is a couple steps closer to completion with the addition of a lightweight clash and a featherweight tilt. Brazil’s Gleison Tibau (29-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) is set to meet Piotr Hallman (15-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at 155 pounds, while Godofredo Pepey (10-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) takes on Dashon Johnson (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at 145. UFC officials recently announced the fight bookings for UFC Fight Night 51. UFC Fight Night 51, which features a headlining rematch between heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Silva, takes place Sept. 13 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass in the United States.

With UFC 173′s lineup a little heavy with 13 fights, a lightweight matchup between Yves Edwards (42-21-1 MMA, 10-8 UFC) and Piotr Hallman (14-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has been pushed back a few weeks to UFC Fight Night 43 in New Mexico. UFC officials today announced the change in plans. UFC 173 takes place May 24 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, while “UFC Fight Night 43: Henderson vs. Khabilov” takes place two weeks later on June 7 at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque.

Veteran lightweight Yves Edwards (42-21-1 MMA, 10-8 UFC) may have his last chance to turn things around in the octagon when he meets up-and-comer Piotr Hallman (14-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at UFC 173. UFC officials today announced the fight for the May 24 event, which takes place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The bout’s position on the fight card was not announced. Edwards, 37, suffered his third consecutive loss in his most recent bout, which came via knockout against Yancy Medeiros at UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3,” but the result was overturned when Medeiros tested positive post-fight for a banned substance. In his third and most recent stint with the UFC, Edwards, a 17-year vet who in the mid-2000s was considered the octgaon’s uncrowned champion in the lightweight division, is 4-5 and desperately needs a win to stay with the promotion. Edwards will attempt to quash the rise of the 26-year-old Hallman, who suffered his first octagon setback in his most recent appearance when he was outpointed by Al Iaquinta at UFC Fight Night 30.
