Kathina Catron meets Livia von Plettenberg on day’s notice at Invicta FC 6

Invicta Fighting Championship got hit with a pair of late changes for tonight’s sixth event while trying to get fighters official at Friday’s weigh-ins. On just one day’s notice, Kathina Catron (3-2) will step up to fight Livia Von Plettenberg (1-1) on the preliminary card of Invicta FC 6. Catron replaces Cassie Robb (0-1) in an odd set of circumstances. Robb was scheduled to meet von Plettenberg in an atom weight bout. But when von Plettenberg weighed in at 113 pounds for the 105-pound bout, the fight was scrapped with the extreme weight difference. Instead, despite missing weight for her contracted fight, von Plettenberg is the one who will remain on the card – and move up to a flyweight bout against Catron.

function not found The 26 ladies participating on the Invicta FC 6 fight card on Saturday stepped on the scales Friday evening to officially weigh-in. The 145-pound title fight between Marloes Coenen and Cris Cybog official. Veronica Rothenhausler, who was scheduled to face Mollie Estes, was deemed medically unfit to compete on Saturday. Estes weighed in and will get her fight purse. Livia Von Plettenberg, Tamikka Brents and Jessica Penne were given two hours to make weight for their match-ups. Invicta FC 6 takes place at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City on Saturday and can be purchased via the Invicta FC official website .

function not found So far 2013 is falling right in line with Scottish female flyweight Joanne “Jojo” Calderwood ’s first year in fighting; she’s still undefeated and is becoming one of the premier fighters in her weight class. “I’ve had two fights this year, one in Invicta (against Livia von Plettenberg), which seems like ages ago, and one back home in Glasgow (against Sally Krumdiak), and in both fights I got wins and performed really well,” she said. “My first one, I went three rounds in Invicta in January and it was pretty much one-sided. The second one I won in the second round with a TKO and that’s even better because I like ending the fight early and not going to the judges. “ Being undefeated (with a record of 6-0) is familiar territory for Calderwood, as is opponent changes. Prior to settling on Norma Rueda Center (2-0) for this Saturday’s Invicta FC 6 event in Kansas City, Calderwood went through two other opponents. “I just like fighting and the opponent at the end of the day doesn’t really matter,” said Calderwood. “That happens in this sport and it wasn’t the first time it happened to me and it won’t be the last time, so it doesn’t really bother me.
