ONE Championship continued its return from the promotion’s COVID-19-enforced hiatus with a muay Thai-heavy card in Bangkok, Thailand. But there were two MMA bouts thrown into the mix, too. The first MMA matchup of the night saw Thailand’s Yodkaikaew Fairtex (5-2) score a second-round knockout of England’s John Shink (3-1), but Thai MMA fan-favorite Pongsiri Mitsatit (10-6) was unable to follow suit. He lost out via first-round knockout at the hands of Japanese contender Akihiro Fujisawa (6-3), who halted a three-fight run of first-round losses with a quickfire win of his own as he put Mitsatit away with a perfectly-timed short left hook with seven seconds remaining in the opening frame. The defeat continues Mitstatit’s disastrous form in ONE Championship, with the 24-year-old suffering his fourth straight loss, and his sixth defeat from his last seven outings.

ONE Championship 95 took place Friday in Bangkok, Thailand, and you can check out highlights of the night’s featured action courtesy of the promotion. The night’s main event saw reigning ONE bantamweight muay Thai champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao earn a unanimous decision over challenger Hiroaki Suzuki. In the co-feature, Petchdam Petchyindee Academy defeated Elias Mahmoudi to capture the inaugural ONE flyweight kickboxing title. In a featured MMA contest, Pongsiri Mitsatit (9-2) uses a brutal barrage of knees to earn a first-round stoppage of Robin Catalan (8-5). Check out highlights of all the action in the video above. Throughout five rounds of all-striking action, Belingon (19-5) stuffed takedowns, worked around the reach disparity, threw shots with intent and was ultimately rewarded for his aggression against Martin Nguyen (11-3) in the main event of today’s “One Championship 78: Reign of Kings.” After taking the nod on all of the judges’ scorecards, Belingon is now the new interim bantamweight champion

A couple weeks after Ariel Sexton pulled off a double submission that we’re still trying to figure out , it was Joshua Pacio ’s turn to gift us with grappling slickness. Pacio (15-2) submitted Pongsiri Mitsatit (9-1) in the first round of their “ONE Championship 78: Reign of Kings” 115-pound bout with what the announcer officially called an armlock. Broadcasting pair Mitch Chilson and Michael Schiavello, however, dubbed it a “rear-naked chicken wing.” Pacio called it a “passion lock.” Our very educated take here is: After pulling it off, Pacio should just be allowed to call this whatever the hell he wants.
