Alexander Hammerstone talks Major League Wrestling’s Move to Reelz

Few pro wrestlers have been as successful within a promotion over the past couple years as Alexander Hammerstone has been with Major League Wrestling. Since coming to MLW in 2019, Hammerstone has consistently been at the top of the promotion, holding multiple titles including the Openweight National Championship and currently the World Heavyweight Championship, a title he’s held since October, 2021. Shortly before Hammerstone’s World Heavyweight Championship title rematch with the man he defeated for the title, Jacob Fatu, at the SuperFight 2023 television tapings for MLW Underground on Reelz, spoke to MMAWeekly.com about a myriad of topics including his title bout with Fatu, working with wrestlers who have MMA stylings, and what he does outside wrestling to unwind. Bellator teased a special announcement from “Rampage” during Bellator 97, its “Summer Series” finale on Wednesday night in New Mexico. Before “King” Mo Lawal and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson landed their historic deals that saw them sign with both Bellator to compete in MMA as well as TNA Wrestling to begin their pro wrestling careers, Bobby Lashley was an old hand at the trade. A former collegiate standout in wrestling, Lashley was a quick pickup several years ago for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where he cut his teeth in the industry and became one of the company’s biggest stars during his years with the organization. Following an injury that saw him exit the WWE in 2008, Lashley began pursuing his new career in mixed martial arts, where he competed in several promotions including a few fights in Strikeforce. During that time, Lashley found his way back into pro wrestling as well, working local shows as well as becoming a mainstay at TNA wrestling. Lashley has known since day one that he decided to dedicate his life to both MMA and pro wrestling that it was going to be hard on his body and mind, but his passion never faded and he continues to walk both roads today. It’s not an easy path to travel, however, and Lashley is quick to offer advice to both Lawal and Jackson that being the best in MMA and pro wrestling won’t come easy.

Why Bobby Lashley’s WWE-to-MMA path didn’t follow Brock Lesnar’s

You might not have known this, but Bobby Lashley is fighting this weekend. He fought earlier this month, too, though you could be forgiven for not knowing that, either. That’s because, especially for a guy who started off with all the buzz that comes from the pro wrestling-to-MMA transition, the heat of the spotlight has cooled considerably for Lashley in MMA. The man who once looked like he might become the next Brock Lesnar is now fighting on small shows like Saturday night’s Global Warrior Challenge event in Kansas City, Mo., where he’s not even the pay-per-view event’s headliner. What’s more, he’s small-timing it on purpose. At least he says he is, and he says he has a good reason, even if other people don’t understand it. “Before when I was fighting, I just felt like I had to go out there and win,” Lashley told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “That was my only focus.

Rampage Jackson Makes Impact Wrestling Debut Opposite Kurt Angle

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson this week signed a multi-faceted, multi-year deal with Bellator MMA, TNA’s Impact Wrestling, and Spike TV. The deal encompasses competing in mixed martial arts, pro wrestling, movies, and other media opportunities. Rampage, who is still recovering from a knee injury, won’t likely set foot in the Bellator cage until this fall, but wasted no time making hi sway to Impact. He debuted on Thursday night’s edition of Impact Wrestling on Spike TV.
