Former UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin takes executive role with Colorado’s PFC

Former UFC interim heavyweight titleholder Shane Carwin (12-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) walked away from fighting earlier this year, but he’ll remain involved in MMA. Carwin recently announced he’s joined Colorado’s Prize Fighting Championship as the promotion’s vice president of fighter development. “I’m really excited for this opportunity,” Carwin stated in an official release. “I always remember fighting and wishing I had someone to talk to that had gone through the ranks, made it to the UFC and retired successfully. It always seemed like promoters, managers, armchair fighters and trainers were giving me advice from every direction.

World Series of Fighting 3 Fighter Salaries: Josh Burkman and Jon Fitch Top $200,000 Payroll

The World Series of Fighting 3: Fitch vs. Burkman fighter salaries were released to MMAWeekly.com on Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Josh Burkman established himself as the promotion’s top welterweight by upsetting the incoming Jon Fitch in the night’s main event, while Steve Carl put his name in the welterweight mix with a win over Tyson Steele. WSOF 3 took place Friday, June 14, at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that promoters are required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners’ bonuses. Although mixed martial arts fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters’ salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States.
