After a back-and-forth bantamweight bout over more than two rounds, Long (27-8 MMA, 1-1 UFC) closed the show in the final frame when he connected with a clean 1-2 punch combination that dropped Le (8-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) to his back. He followed up with a pair of shots to turn the lights out, and referee Mike Beltran stopped it at the 1:28 mark of Round 3.

Luckily for Gutierrez (20-6-2 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC), the UFC found a replacement in undefeated LFA standout Quang Le . “I’m happy to have an opponent because I think one or two more days later it would’ve gotten scratched, and it already got pushed back a week before that, so I was excited,” Gutierrez said at Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 61 media day. “He stepped up, and at this point, it doesn’t matter who it is.” Gutierrez admits he doesn’t know much about Le, given that the booking was announced on Tuesday. Unfortunate circumstances have kept UFC matchmakers busy in the lead-up to Saturday’s event as UFC on ESPN 61 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas has encountered a handful of changes in the days prior. The scheduled co-main event between Chris Gutierrez and Javid Basharat won’t happen as planned.
