How much people make, no matter their profession, is almost always a topic of contention. Nobody ever makes enough, and everybody could always use a little more. The UFC is no different. UFC fighter pay has been one of the hottest topics around for quite some time, but has been rekindled recently, especially with UFC veterans like Jon Fitch and Jacob Volkmann publicly discussing the matter. The discussion hit a fever pitch that had UFC president Dana White considering doing away with the promotion’s traditional “Fight of the Night” and discretionary or “locker room” bonuses. The bonuses are typically issued on the basis of performance for fighters that UFC officials felt had an entertaining or heartfelt fight or particularly exciting finish.

He’s currently in the midst of working his way down to 205 pounds, planning to fight one more time at heavyweight before making the drop. And there seems to be no shortage of opponents for him before he finally debuts at light heavyweight. UFC president Dana White recently confirmed that Fabricio Werdum asked him to fight Cormier after Werdum defeated Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in his most recent fight. Cormier said he was fine with that fight, but White may have other plans for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion. White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports that he is currently in negotiations with Roy Nelson for a new contract. Nelson fulfilled his last contract with a loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 161 in June. Erick Silva made quick work of Jason High at UFC on Fuel TV 10 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, re-establishing himself as one of the top prospects in the promotion’s welterweight division. High tried to shoot on Silva, but the Brazilian sprawled out and quickly outmaneuvered High, wrestling him to the mat, and taking his back. From there, Silva slid off to the side, securing High’s arm as he did so. Silva stretched out the armbar, leaving High with no other option but to tap out.
