The idea of competing in bare-knuckle boxing was “kind of nuts” to Rachael Ostovich at first, so initially she wasn’t interested in signing with Bare Knuckle FC. But then she saw Britain Hart defeat Paige VanZant at “BKFC: KnuckleMania,” and that’s when Ostovich knew she had to try it. She specifically wanted a shot at VanZant, who submitted Ostovich in mixed martial arts at UFC Fight Night 143 in January 2019. “I was like, ‘I can do this. I know I can beat her,’” Ostovich recently told MMA Junkie Radio. “But it was just committing myself and going through with this process of bare-knuckle.” Ostovich did just that and came away victorious with a split decision over VanZant this past July at BKFC 19

TAMPA, Fla. – Rachael Ostovich avenged her loss to Paige VanZant in emphatic fashion. Ostovich defeated VanZant in the main event of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 19, which took place at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Friday night. Ostovich outpointed VanZant in a unanimous decision, winning with scores of 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46 on the judges’ cards.

Rachael Ostovich ’s foray into the world of bare knuckle boxing was a success on Friday as she earned a redemptive victory over Paige VanZant in the BKFC 19 headliner. The rematch of the UFC fight from January 2019 that VanZant won by submission was limited exclusively to fisticuffs, and in that element Ostovich thrived to get her revenge by unanimous decision.
