Bellator releases seven fighters, including 12-bout veteran Mike Richman and ex-title challenger Dave Jansen

Seven fighters have been cut from Bellator’s roster, as MMAjunkie was able to confirm with promotion officials today. The list includes 12-fight veteran Mike Richman (18-6 MMA, 7-5 BMMA) , currently serving a two-year suspension after a failed drug test , and former title challenger Dave Jansen (20-4 MMA, 7-2 BMMA), who snapped a seven-fight winning streak with back-to-back losses to then-champ Will Brooks and, more recently, Marcin Held. Other promotional veterans who no longer fight under the Bellator banner are Mikkel Parlo (13-2 MMA, 4-3 BMMA), Raphael Butler (9-2-1 MMA, 4-2-1 BMMA) and Houston Alexander (16-14-1 MMA, 1-3-1 BMMA). With two consecutive setbacks since joining the promotion last year, former “King of Pancrase” Isao Kobayashi (18-4-4 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) is also on the list, as well as MMA veteran Thiago Goncalves Jambo – who, following an unsuccessful debut, announced his retirement earlier today on social media. Josh Koscheck Josh Koscheck ’s first fight in nearly 12 years for someone other than the UFC has been put on hold. Koscheck (17-10 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) was scheduled to make his promotional debut later this month at Bellator 148 against Matt Secor (7-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA), but an undisclosed injury has forced him out of the main event in the city he trains in and calls home. Lorenzo Hood debuts against Raphael Butler at Bellator 141

Lorenzo Hood A matchup between two powerful heavyweights will go down at Bellator 141 on Aug. 28. Six-fight Bellator veteran Raphael Butler (9-1-1 MMA, 4-1-1 BMMA) welcomes Lorenzo Hood (9-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) to the organization in a bout that has the potential for fireworks. The heavyweight matchup will open the Spike TV-televised main card following prelims on MMAjunkie at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. A senior Bellator official confirmed the matchup to MMAjunkie.
