HALIFAX – Dozens of trips to the octagon and a world-renowned coach in his family gave Aiemann Zahabi a tremendous amount of poise in his UFC debut. And while it took Zahabi (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) a round to convert that characteristic into meaningful offense, he managed to out-strike a tough Reginaldo Vieira (13-5 MMA, 1- UFC) and win a unanimous decision. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 105 event at Scotiabank Centre. It aired on FS1 following an additional prelim on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on FS1. The final scorecards were 30-27 and 29-28 twice for Zahabi, the younger brother of Tristar chief Firas Zahabi

LAS VEGAS – Upkicks don’t lead to many finishes in the UFC, but Marco Beltran utilized them perfectly to stun Reginaldo Vieira and set up a second round rear-naked choke finish. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 90 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Vieira hated it. “People who watch ‘TUF’ only see the good parts: the fun, the casinos, dancing,” Vieira said. “But I didn’t have a good experience. Claudia Gadelha Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), MMA’s regulatory body in Brazil, has issued medical suspensions to fighters from this past weekend’s UFC 190, and five face lengthy terms. MMAjunkie today obtained the list of suspensions from CABMMA, which oversaw Saturday’s pay-per-view event at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Although CABMMA issues minimum 14-day suspensions to all competitors, 21 of the 26 fighters from UFC 190 received longer terms. Most notably, Claudia Gadelha (13-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Jessica Aguilar (19-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who fought to open the main card, could be out as long as 180 days. Gadelha beat Aguilar in a unanimous decision to set up a title fight rematch with women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzeczyk

Reginaldo Vieira RIO DE JANEIRO – After a fight that saw dueling guillotine choke attempts, wild striking exchanges, and lots of blood, Reginaldo Vieira just edged out Dileno Lopes to win the bantamweight final of “TUF: Brazil 4.” It didn’t come easy, and it wasn’t without a few near submissions, but Vieira (13-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) carried the day with his aggression and positional control, defeating a gutsy Lopes (18-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27). The “TUF: Brazil 4″ bantamweight final was part of the main card of today’s UFC 190 event at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. These two 135-pounders wasted little time trying to end the fight in the first, as both men traded guillotine chokes back and forth in the first few minutes of the bout. Whether it was Vieira choking and Lopes escaping, or Lopes locking on the choke and Vieira riding it out, it seemed the guillotine was the only finishing move either fighter was interested in the opening frame. But while both men may have worn down their arms trying for the choke, it was Vieira who seemed fresher in the second round, when the action took place mainly on the feet.
