Christos Giagos headlines Friday’s RFA 42 event and hopes for more than another RFA win. After conversations with UFC President Dana White, octagon vet Giagos (12-5) believes a triumph over Arthur Estrazulas (8-2) in Friday’s AXS TV-televised main event at Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Calif., should be enough to reopen the doors to the promotion. “(White) saw my last fight and said he was impressed,” Giagos told MMAjunkie Radio. “He said it looked like I belonged back in the UFC.

Friday’s RFA 42 event has had a change, and a WSOF and Bellator veteran will fight for the first time in more than a year as a result. Chris Padilla (7-1) has been forced out of his featherweight fight against Anthony Avila (12-4) with a broken hand, a promotion official confirmed to MMAjunkie. Stepping in for Padilla on short notice is Cody Bollinger (17-5)

RFA 42 slated for Aug. 19 with Christos Giagos vs. Zach Juusola headliner on AXS TV

The headliner and co-headliner are set for next month’s RFA 42 event. Officials recently announced lightweights Christos Giagos (12-5) and Zach Juusola (11-3) meet in the main event, and flyweights Ray Elizalde (10-0) and Alex Perez (13-4) clash in the co-main event. RFA 42 takes place Aug. 19 at Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Calif. The main card airs on AXS TV. In the headliner, Giagos, who was RFA’s first 155-pound titleholder, looks to continue his recent momentum.
