The event, which aired on AXS TV from Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., featured a six-bout main card, and in the final four fights, Brazilian fighters challenged their American counterparts. Unfortunately for the home team, the Brazilians reigned supreme and took home a 3-1 victory. In the headliner, Raoni Barcelos (9-1) wrapped up the Team Brazil win and dominated Ricky Musgrave for a decision victory that earned him the organization’s vacant featherweight title.

Jordon Larson RFA featherweight Ricky Musgrave usually trains in the quaint confines of the Fight Factory in Atwood, Kan, alongside veterans who, like him, are still working their way to the big show. Not long ago, however, Musgrave put on his travel backpack and flew to Brazil, in part, to see what a world-renowned training facility looks like up close. He found himself at Nova Uniao, where UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo and a bevy of other standouts train. Now, he still trains with the Fight Factory. But he’s got a new appreciation for large MMA teams and the work they produce.

Ricky Musgrave When Ricky Musgrave was finished with his military service – that is, after he finished his two tours of duty in Iraq following his special training at Army Ranger school – he knew exactly how he wanted to spend his hard-earned money. The small-town Kansas native had lived frugally during his four-year service, so he had enough scratched together to do some traveling. After his karate training in his youth and then a budding interest in MMA gained at Kentucky gyms while living on an Army base, Musgrave was chasing his athletic dreams. His first stop was Thailand for six months. Then came Brazil for another six months.
