The MMA life hasn’t been an easy road for Rivaldo Junior the past four and a half years or so. After getting out to a 13-2-1 start in his pro career, the Brazilian thought things were looking bright. But at the same time, he was trying to balance going to college, holding down a job, and advancing his fight career. Something had to get the short end of the stick, and it wound up being his MMA record. Since September 2012, he has gone just 2-4-1, but at least he knows what was holding him back – and is hopeful he has put the worst of the rocky road behind him

Filed under: AXS TV Fights , News Jiu-jitsu ace and strawweight MMA prospect Mackenzie Dern is slated for her 2017 debut on March 10 at LFA 6. Officials recently announced the first three bouts for the card, which airs on AXS TV from Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. In the main event, Texas featherweights Rivaldo Junior (15-6-2) and Ray Rodriguez (11-4) square off, and in the co-headliner, former Legacy FC middleweight title challenger Larry Crowe (9-6) meets former University of Alabama linebacker Eryk Anders (5-0)

A pair of middleweight prospects will go toe to toe when Joseph Gigliotti and Trevin Giles meet in the main event of RFA 41. The promotion recently announced the card for July 29 at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. The main card airs live on AXS TV. In addition to the Gigliotti (7-0) vs. Giles (6-0) fight, Jamall Emmers (9-3) meets Rivaldo Junior (15-5-2) in the featherweight co-main event. Gigliotti has seven finishes in his seven professional bouts, most recently picking up a submission of John Poppie in just 58 seconds at RFA 37. He has also fought for WSOF, where he stopped Brendan Tierney with elbows in the third round at WSOF 19
