Many observers were confused by Daron Cruickshank ’s decision to flip his opponent the middle finger following his knockout win on Sunday at Rizin FF 10. Cruickshank himself was one of them. Cruickshank (19-10) snapped a two-fight losing skid when he finished Kochi Matsumoto (19-8-2) with a brutal head kick in the first round of their lightweight bout, which took place at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan. McCall (13-7-1), who hasn’t won since 2014 after a few ill-timed losses and a never-ending string of fight cancellations, finally got back to action in today’s Rizin FF 10 bantamweight headliner, but fellow UFC vet Kyoji Horiguchi (24-2) scored a knockout win in just nine seconds . Daron Cruickshank added yet another kick-related highlight knockout to his reel on Sunday when he decimated Koshi Matsumoto with a perfect strike at Rizin FF 10. Cruickshank (19-10) came into the event, which took place at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan, and streamed on FITE TV, on the heels of consecutive stoppage losses. He turned things around in an epic manner, though, sleeping Matsumoto (19-8-2) in the opening round of their lightweight fight. After several high-kick attempts over the first few minutes, Cruickshank again elevated his left foot toward Matsumoto’s head nearly four minutes into the bout. It connected and put the Japanese fighter out before he hit the ground. Cruickshank then added insult to injury, giving the middle finger to his downed foe before celebrating with a flip.

A former UFC, Bellator and WEC fighter will try to continue his resurgence after a few rough years when he makes his Rizin FF debut this spring. Diego Nunes (22-7) is set to take on Yusuke Yachi (19-6) in a lightweight bout at Rizin FF 10, the promotion today announced. In addition, heavyweights Ante Delija (14-3) and Ricardo Prasel (9-0) will meet on the card. Rizin FF 10 takes place May 6 at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan.
