Ian McCall ’s unprecedented bad luck continued on Friday when he suffered one of the more bizarre stoppage losses in recent memory at Rizin FF 8. McCall (13-6-1), who was making his promotional debut at the event at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, lost his bantamweight grand prix bantamweight quarterfinal matchup to Manel Kape (9-1) by doctor’s stoppage in the opening round after the ring ropes appeared to have opened a deep cut on his forehead .

Garcia (4-0) was forced to step in the ring inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, where she apologized for coming in 28 pounds overweight for her bout against Kandori (4-1), which was scheduled for 209 pounds.

Gabi Garcia will not be competing at tonight’s Rizin FF 8 event, which is currently going down at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Garcia (4-0) was supposed to fight Shinobu Kandori (4-1) on the card, but came in a whopping 28 pounds over the contract weight. Promoters were furious with the situation, and as a result the bout will no longer take place.

An open-weight fight at Rizin FF 8 is in jeopardy after Gabi Garcia came in 28 pounds over the 209-pound limit. Garcia (4-0) weighed in at 237 pounds today for her scheduled fight against 53-year-old retired professional wrestler Shinobu Kandori (4-1), who was 162.25. According to reports on social media, Kandori screamed at Garcia on the stage, then stormed off. Rizin FF 8 takes place Friday at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, near Tokyo. The event airs via online pay-per-view. Commentator Joe Ferraro said on Twitter that Rizin FF head Nobuyuki Sakakibara came on stage and said “Competition-wise, we cannot make this happen.” But so far, the bout has not officially been scrapped.
