‘The Ultimate Fighter 31: McGregor vs. Chandler’ Episode 5 recap: A ‘diva’ and ‘unfinished fights’ spark frustration

“The Ultimate Fighter 31: Team McGregor vs. Team Chandler” returned Tuesday for Episode 5 as the anger begins to mount internally on one team – and externally through the second team’s coach. On Episode 5, the matchup between Brad Katona and Carlos Vera finally happens after a disagreement and negotiations between coaches from each team pertaining to the weight class. The season runs from May 30 to Aug. 15 with the live finale expected for later this year. The promotion also intends for coaches Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler to square off in the months that follow the conclusion of the season.

Luis Pena doesn’t think Robert Drysdale’s cornering of Max Rohskopf should be controversial

Luis Pena didn’t find MMA’s most recent controversy all that controversial. Pena (8-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC), a UFC lightweight, supports Robert Drysdale ’s cornering of Max Rohskopf at this past Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 11 in Las Vegas. Drysdale was criticized by some in the MMA bubble for pushing his fighter in between rounds to continue fighting. Rohskopf (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had repeatedly told Drysdale he no longer wanted to continue fighting.

Robert Drysdale is calling it quits on his fighting career. Well technically, he retired awhile back, but he didn’t let anyone know it right away. However, in a recent post on Facebook, Drysdale (7-0 MMA) officially announced the end of the road. Jiu-jitsu champ, fighter and “The Ultimate Fighter 23” coach Robert Drysdale recently made headlines for calling out Gracie brothers Rener and Ryron for “selling belts” on the Internet. The criticism came six months after Drysdale (6-0) posted his own jiu-jitsu lessons online . But in an interview earlier this month with MMAjunkie Radio, the ace grappler and fighter said there’s a big difference between the two. “There’s no (belt) promotion,” Drysdale said. “And I make it clear and I make a case of this, if you don’t practice at all and you just want to learn a few things, online will give you a few ideas.

NSAC suspends UFC’s Robert Drysdale and WSOF’s Bryson Gutches

The Nevada State Athletic Commission today suspended UFC light heavyweight Robert Drysdale for one year and fined him 33 percent of the purse he earned at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale following a failed post-fight drug test. Drysdale’s first-round submission win over Keith Barish was also overturned to a no-contest, and the fighter was ordered to pass a drug test prior to being relicensed, the commission ruled in a unanimous vote at a hearing in Las Vegas. A post-fight drug test at the July 6 event revealed Drysdale (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) had a 12:1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio , which is well above the 6:1 limit accepted by the commission. The fighter previously was given a temporary suspension pending a formal hearing

NSAC suspends Kevin Casey for one year, issues $5,600 fine

LAS VEGAS – UFC middleweight Kevin Casey was suspended for one year and fined $5,600 after failing a drug test at July’s UFC 175 event. Nevada State Athletic Commission officials issued the punishment at today’s meeting at Las Vegas’ Grant Sawyer State Office Building. Casey(8-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) knocked out Bubba Bush (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in 61 seconds at UFC 175 but then tested positive for drostanolone , a steroid, after the July 5 bout
