Marcus Brimage It appears the UFC has initiated a fairly substantial trimming of its roster. On Friday, “The Ultimate Fighter 19” Eddie Gordon announced the UFC has cut him . Soon after, a number of other fighters confirmed they, too, received their walking papers. And it sounds like far more could be on the way. Brimage (7-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC), a quarterfinalist on “TUF 14,” won his first three UFC fights, defeating notables such as Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes in the process.

UFC 185 medical suspensions: Ryan Benoit gets indefinite suspension, but not for foul

Ryan Benoit Five fighters were suspended indefinitely following this past Saturday’s UFC 185, including flyweight Ryan Benoit , who courted controversy when he kicked Sergio Pettis after a knockout victory. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which recently released medical suspensions arising from the event, confirmed that the suspension was not related to Benoit’s foul, for which he apologized after the fight. “The Pettis camp did not wish to file a complaint with the Department against Mr. Benoit,” TDLR Public Information Officer Susan Stanford wrote MMAjunkie in an email.

Elias Theodorou DALLAS – When he wasn’t trying smother and toss his opponent to the mat, Elias Theodorou kicked like he was in a point karate tournament. The former set up Theodorou (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC), the “TUF Nations” winner, who broke Roger Narvaez ’s (7-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) arm with a kick in the second round before a TKO victory. The middleweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC 185 event at American Airlines Center in Dallas. It aired on FX following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on pay-per-view. The fight came to an end at the 4:07 mark of the second frame as Theodorou wailed at Narvaez’s head with hammerfists.

Elias Theodorou A middleweight matchup between Texan Roger Narvaez (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Canadian Elias Theodorou (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is the latest addition to the quickly filling UFC 185 lineup. UFC officials today confirmed the bout following an initial report from Winnipeg Free Press . Featuring a lightweight title fight between current UFC champ Anthony Pettis and top contender Rafael dos Anjos, UFC 185 takes place March 14 at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. While the night’s main card airs on pay-per-view, a bout order for the evening has yet to be revealed.

AUSTIN, Texas – Roger Narvaez couldn’t quite get the finish, even after dropping Luke Barnatt in the final round and nearly sinking several rear-naked chokes. But after three rounds against a game Barnatt (8-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), Narvaez (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) did get the split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) thanks to the two judges who saw it in his favor after a bout that wasn’t so easy to call. The middleweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 57 event at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. It aired on FOX Sports following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. The action-packed final round turned out to be a very important one here, since the first two frames at times resembled an extended feeling-out process.
