In the main event, Irish rising star James Gallagher dazzled his hometown fans with a submission win over over Roman Salazar in just 35 seconds. The result was cause for celebration with SBG Ireland teammate and former UFC champion Conor McGregor. DUBLIN – The Bellator 227/Bellator Europe 4 official weigh-ins are in the books, and all 18 scheduled fights are now official for Friday night’s event at the 3Arena. In the Bellator 227 main event, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson takes on Bellator debutant Myles Jury , who narrowly missed the 156-pound lightweight limit. Henderson (27-8 MMA, 4-3 BMMA) subsequently hit his mark, and Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports president Mike Mazzulli confirmed to MMA Junkie that, instead of forcing Jury (18-4 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) to weigh in again for a non-title fight, he would spot him the additional 0.2 pounds and the fight will go ahead, technically under a tweaked contract weight. There was also drama surrounding the Bellator Europe 4 main event bout between James Gallagher and Roman Salazar . Gallagher (9-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) made weight with ease for their scheduled 140-pound contract-weight bout, but Salazar (13-9 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), stepping in on a week’s notice, wasn’t so comfortable.

DUBLIN – When Roman Salazar ’s ex-manager texted him with the prospective idea to throw his name into the hat for the James Gallagher sweepstakes, the former UFC bantamweight responded: “LOL.” Arizona’s Salazar (13-9 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) didn’t think he’d be chosen to fight in the Bellator Europe 4 main event against Gallagher (9-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA), but Friday he’ll be doing just that. Salazar replaced Gallagher’s original opponent, Cal Ellenor, who was forced to pull out this past week due to unforeseen brain-related issues . James Gallagher ’s fans can rest easy. Their man will be in action in his hometown next week at Bellator Europe 4. Gallagher’s original opponent, England’s Cal Ellenor, was forced off the card because of medical issues , leaving the local Irish star without an opponent for the main event Sept. 27 at 3Arena in Dublin. But Bellator officials have moved swiftly and booked former UFC bantamweight Roman Salazar , who has agreed to step in and face Gallagher (9-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) in a 140-pound catchweight bout.

LFA 44 took place Friday night at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the welterweight main event, Matthew Frincu and Christian Aguilera put on a striking clinic, as expected, with Frincu (13-3) coming away with a unanimous-decision win by three scores of 29-28. The result pushes Frincu’s winning streak to three; Aguilera (11-5), meanwhile, has his winning streak snapped at three. In the bantamweight co-headliner, Casey Kenney (9-1-1), a two-time Dana White’s Contender Series competitor, outlasted former UFC fighter Roman Salazar (12-7) for a unanimous decision by scores of 29-28 twice and 30-27.
