Filed under: Cage Warriors , Featured Videos , News , Videos Cage Warriors is stepping up its shoulder programming game with the debut of a new series: “Legends of Cage Warriors.” The first edition now is available featuring England’s own Rosi Sexton , an MMA pioneer who cut her teeth with the promotion in her home country before making her way to Bellator, the UFC, then back to Cage Warriors. Sexton retired earlier this year after one final bout with the promotion, and now she’s featured in the debut episode of the web show. The former promotional champion first fought for the organization 12 years ago and went 6-1 with Cage Warriors over the years. Her lone loss came in her swan song just a month ago at Cage Warriors 69.

UFC, Bellator, Cage Warriors vet Rosi Sexton announces retirement from MMA

After 18 pro fights over more than 12 years, Rosi Sexton , considered one of the pioneers of women’s MMA, has announced her retirement from the sport. Sexton, 36, brought the news via her website. In an emotionally honest blog post titled “Where next?,” Sexton said, “Right now, there’s a new chapter waiting.” The native of Manchester, England, a bantamweight, sees the end come on the heels of a three-fight losing streak, including decision losses in both her fights in the UFC. Two weeks ago, Sexton returned to Cage Warriors in England and was knocked out by highly regarded prospect Joanna Jedrzejczjk in the second round. “The bottom line – right now I have more to offer the sport outside the cage than inside it,” Sexton said in the post. “I don’t want to give up on being the fighter I believe I’m capable of; but there are bigger things going on.

Veteran fighter and recent UFC competitor Rosi Sexton (13-4) will meet top prospect Joanna Jedrzejczyk (5-0) at the upcoming “Cage Warriors 69: Super Saturday” event. Cage Warriors officials today announced the flyweight bout while also confirming a planned bout between featherweights Liam James (8-6) and Nad Narimani (7-1) has been canceled after both fighters suffered injuries. Cage Warriors 69 takes place June 7 at The Forum in London. “Super Saturday” features two main cards, which stream live and free in North America on MMAjunkie.

The women’s bantamweight bout was part of today’s UFC 161 event at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. It aired on pay-per-view after prelims on FX and Facebook. Both fighters started quickly at the opening bell, engaging in the center and flurrying with strikes.
