Canadian light heavyweight Ryan Jimmo is dead at 34. MMAjunkie today confirmed with a person with first-hand knowledge of the accident who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the matter that Jimmo was the victim identified in an initial CBC News report of a fatal hit-and-run collision.

GOIANIA, Brazil – In a certifiably ugly fight marred by bouts of clinching and an illegal groin shot that extended a 15-minute affair by five minutes, Francimar Barroso inched out Ryan Jimmo . It was not an affair to remember, though. Barroso (17-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) spent most of the fight holding Jimmo (19-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) against the fence. Jimmo, meanwhile, never really got in the fight. The light heavyweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 67 event at Goiania Arena in Goiania, Goias, Brazil.

Ryan Jimmo When Ryan Jimmo arrived in Brazil earlier this week, it marked his first fight in a year – and his first since he’s been at the forefront of the criticism that’s followed the UFC’s controversial uniform deal with Reebok. By now, the particulars are pretty well-known. Beginning in July, UFC fighters are no longer permitted to wear their sponsors’ logos or gear in the cage. Instead, they’ll be forced to wear Reebok-branded clothing after the apparel giant struck a landmark deal with the UFC.

Ryan Jimmo The card for the UFC’s return to Goiania, Goias, Brazil, continues to come together with the announcement of two more fights for UFC Fight Night 67. The UFC announced a light-heavyweight bout between Ryan Jimmo (19-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and Francimar Barroso (16-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC), as well as a welterweight fight between UFC newcomer Tom Breese (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Luiz Dutra (11-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC). UFC Fight Night 67 takes place May 30 at Goiania Arena. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The evening’s main event sees former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit face Thiago Alves. Jimmo, a 33-year-old Canadian, lost in his most recent trip to the octagon while suffering a broken arm when he faced Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 174
