Injury has forced a change to the CES MMA 36 card and led to a shake-up in the main event. The promotion today notified MMAjunkie of the change. The event takes place June 10 from Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., and airs on AXS TV. The originally planned championship main event between Ryan Sanders (10-7) and lightweight champion Luis Felix (14-9) has been scrapped after an injury forced the champ out of the bout. Sanders will now face former UFC fighter Levan Makashvili (7-2-1) in a non-title bout.

Luis Felix A championship rematch is slated to headline next month’s CES MMA 36 event. Officials today announced lightweight champion Luis Felix (14-9) and challenger Ryan Sanders (10-7) will rematch at the June 10 event, which airs on AXS TV from Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I. Felix and Sanders first fought in January at CES MMA 32, and the non-title catchweight bout came to an abrupt end when Felix suffered a knee injury and was forced to tap out in the second round. Related: CES MMA 32 results: Curtis slick on the feet in downing de Freitas for title “That was one of the worst nights of my career,” Felix stated. “I thought I broke my leg, and I froze up. But I’m still the champion, I’m ready to defend my title, and I’m excited to move forward in my career.

Chris Curtis (13-4) avoided the crushing power of Gil de Freitas (18-6), unseating the CES welterweight champ with an impressive first-round TKO. The contest served as the main event of Friday’s CES MMA 32 event, which took place at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., and aired on AXS TV. Curtis moved well to start, using quick footwork to move in and out of range and pepper his opponent with punches.
