The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission on Tuesday released the UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen fighter salaries to MMAWeekly.com. UFC light heavyweight Chael Sonnen submitted for UFC and Pride champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the night’s main event, but it was Alistair Overeem, in a loss, that topped the disclosed fighter payroll.

UFC on FOX 8 took place July 27 at Seattle’s KeyArena, and the main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Top-five pay-per-view draw and middleweight champ Anderson Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC), who recently inked a new 10-fight contract with the UFC, will bank a guaranteed $600,000 for fighting challenger Chris Weidman (9-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC), according to figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Silva, 38, stands to earn an additional $200,000 by defending his title an 11th time, which would add to his UFC record. The 29-year-old Weidman, meanwhile, is guaranteed $24,000 and an additional $24,000 if he makes history by taking the belt. White: No decision on eliminating UFC fight-night bonuses, will talk to fighters

LAS VEGAS – Earlier this week, in response to some recent complaints about fighter pay, UFC President Dana White floated the idea of eliminating fight-night bonuses and channeling that money to bigger base paydays for fighters. However, White today said at the pre-UFC 162 press conference that the organization isn’t currently close to implementing such a plan. Currently, the UFC gives out $50,000 bonuses for each event’s best knockout and best submission, as well as the best fight (which goes to both the winner and loser). The fight-night awards have gone as high as $129,000 in the past, and a handful of dual-award winners have banked some serious cash due to the bonus system. However, some fighters, both current and past, have recently complained about the difficulty in living on the salaries given to typical lower-level fighters, where base paydays can be $6,000 to show and an additional $6,000 to victorious. And on Monday, White offered a potentially significant adjustment. “You don’t like the structure? All right, we’ll pay the lower-level guys more money – no more f—ing bonuses,” he said.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the World Series of Fight 3: Fitch vs. Burkman 2 gate and attendance figures on Friday. The event took place on June 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Casino in Las Vegas. 2,501 spectators witnessed the organization’s third event with 1,107 tickets sold and 186 unsold. Complimentary tickets totaled 1,394. Gate receipts returned $106,573 in revenue for the nine-fight card. The WSOF 3 fighter salaries clocked in at $200,000. Josh Burkman avenged a previous loss to Jon Fitch in the main event, submitting the former UFC welterweight contender by guillotine choke in the first round. The main card aired live on NBC Sports Network.
