UFC invites Boston fans to open workouts, press conference, more

The UFC returns to Boston next week for its debut event on FOX Sports 1, and fans are invited to a host of activities around Beantown. The city’s TD Garden is the site of next week’s “UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen” event, which takes place on Saturday, Aug. 17, and airs both main-card and preliminary matchups on the brand-new FOX Sports 1 channel following three additional prelim contests that stream on Facebook. However, the UFC-related activities start much earlier in the week. The sessions start on Tuesday, Aug. 13, where Peter Welch’s Gym plays to a workout for fast-rising Irish featherweight Conor McGregor , who meets Max Holloway at next week’s UFC Fight Night 26 event. McGregor’s workout starts at 3 p.m.

‘TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia’ open tryouts in Sydney and Toronto

Open tryouts for the recently announced “The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia” reality show are now set, officials today announced. They take place Sept. 11 in Sydney (location TBA) and Sept. 22 in Toronto (Westin Harbour Castle). Both sessions kick off at 8 a.m. local time. As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported, officials have put a call for both welterweight and middleweight UFC hopefuls.

Schedule grows for UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, including Dana White Q&A

The two-day UFC Fan Expo continues to bolster its lineup for July 5-6 in Las Vegas, coinciding with the UFC 162 pay-per-view. UFC officials recently announced plans for activities that will take place on the main stage at the Expo, including Q&A sessions with UFC luminaries and this year’s Hall of Fame induction. The latest UFC Fan Expo takes place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Its sister property, MGM Grand Garden Arena, hosts UFC 162, which airs July 6 with a main event between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman . Expo tickets are $40 for Friday or $45 for Saturday. Two-days passes are $60 and can be purchased at www.ufcfanexpo.com

St-Pierre, Jones, Rousey among fighters booked for July’s UFC Fan Expo

The UFC’s latest Fan Expo continues to build its roster of fighters who will make official appearances for the promotion. So far, more than 30 fighters, including several champions, have been booked for fan meet-and-greet and autograph sessions at the Expo, which takes place prior to July’s UFC 162 pay-per-view. UFC 162 takes place July 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The UFC Fan Expo takes place July 5-6 at the nearby Mandalay Bay Convention Center. In addition, the UFC will have additional activities all week leading up to the card as part of this year’s “Fight Week.” UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva again headlines this year’s Independece Day weekend card. In 2012, he defended his title at UFC 148 against Chael Sonnen in a rematch. This year, he’ll put his belt on the line against Chris Weidman . The Fan Expo, as always, will feature exhibitor and merchandise booths, training sessions, Q&A sessions and competitions such as Grapplers Quest and a World of Wrestling event
