The 32-year-old Bellator fighter spoke of an easy cut to bantamweight and his frustration of competing outside the UFC, where he competed as a lightweight on “The Ultimate Fighter 5″ and was released after a 1-4 stretch inside the octagon. “The last couple of years, I’ve been fighting my ass of just to prove myself,” Emerson told MMAjunkie. Then, the interview took a very dark turn. Emerson, who on Friday is scheduled to compete against Joe Taimanglo on the preliminary card of Bellator 116 at California’s Pechanga Resort and Casino, spoke about a running feud with UFC flyweight Ian McCall and made a very serious accusation. With his gaze cast downward, Emerson seethed over McCall and said he was indirectly responsible for the death of Shane del Rosario , the UFC heavyweight who suddenly passed away this past December

Coroner: Del Rosario’s death due to natural causes; cocaine found in system

UFC heavyweight Shane del Rosario ‘s death was due to natural causes, according to medical examiners. A death certificate issued Wednesday by the Orange County (Calif.) coroner’s office said the 30-year-old fighter suffered brain damage from a lack of oxygen to the brain, an abnormal heart rhythm commonly associated with heart attacks and a congenital heart disorder.

Shane del Rosario has died after suffering full cardiac arrest nearly two weeks ago. Del Rosario, a professional MMA fighter since 2006, was 30. His friend and roommate, UFC flyweight Ian McCall, as well as teammate Carla Esparza, tweeted the news on Monday night.

After collapsing and going into full cardiac arrest , UFC heavyweight Shane del Rosario remains in a Newport Beach, Calif. hospital, UFC officials and the fighter’s manager announced on Friday. Del Rosario, a kickboxing and muay Thai vet who eventually fought his way to Strikeforce and the UFC after turning to MMA, has not regained consciousness since Tuesday’s episode. According to an update the UFC and manager Jason House issued on Friday, doctors haven’t ruled out the possibility that the 30-year-old fighter is suffering from a heart ailment called long QT syndrome. “After arriving at the emergency room in full cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning he was resuscitated to stable rhythm and blood pressure, but has not regained consciousness.

Guto Inocente also injured, UFC 168 fight with Shane del Rosario scrapped

As MMAjunkie first reported, injury forced Shane del Rosario to withdraw from his planned UFC 168 appearance . As it turns out, planned opponent Guto Inocente is also is also hurt, and the bout has been scrapped. UFC officials today announced the bout’s removal from the UFC 168 lineup.
