In addition to headliner Conor McGregor, January’s UFC Fight Night 59 event in Boston is going to have some additional Irish representation. Irish flyweight Patrick Holohan (10-1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will meet Shane Howell (13-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the event, UFC officials today announced.

SAN ANTONIO – Ray Borg vowed that he wouldn’t be hindered by the octagon jitters in his second UFC fight like he was in the first, and it didn’t take long for him to deliver on that promise. After a quick takedown followed by a slick transition to back mount, Borg (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) locked up a rear-naked choke that put Shane Howell (13-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to sleep at the 2:17 mark of the first round. The flyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 44 event at AT&T Center in San Antonio. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following an additional prelim on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on FOX Sports 1. Borg didn’t take long to get the action to the mat in this one.

Not long before Friday’s Legacy FC 29 event, the main event was pulled when featherweight title challenger Shane Howell fell ill. As the broadcast on AXS TV kicked off, play-by-play voice Michael Schiavello confirmed what promoter Mick Maynard had reported to aXS TV earlier – that Howell had the flu, and his shot at Leonard Garcia ‘s 145-pound title was on hold. That shifted the title fight between Paul Buentello and Myron Dennis for the vacant light heavyweight strap up to the lead position. Legacy FC 29 takes place at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla

March’s Legacy FC 29 event will have a second title fight as UFC/WEC vet Leonard Garcia looks to make the first successful defense of his featherweight title. Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard told MMAjunkie that Garcia (18-11-1) will meet Shane Howell (13-7) at the event. Legacy FC 29 takes place March 21 at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla.
