Sheymon Moraes entered 2022 PFL Championships with a ton of pressure. Sure, he wasn’t fighting for a belt and the $1 million prize that comes with winning a season, but with fighting former UFC title challenger Marlon Moraes on short notice, and coming off a loss, Sheymon (15-6) felt his spot on the PFL roster was on the line. “I know if I lost, I thought maybe PFL kicked me out, and I don’t want to lose my job,” Sheymon told reporters at the post-fight news conference (via MMA Sucka) .

After two dominant rounds in his favor, Moraes (23-11-1) was finished by Sheymon Moraes (15-6), who rallied for a TKO finish at the 0:58 mark of Round 3. The featherweight fight took place as the featured prelim of 2022 PFL Championships , which took place Friday at Hulu Theater in New York.

Not only did Moraes (14-5) prove his doubters wrong, but he was successful Thursday when he defeated fellow ex-UFC fighter Boston Salmon at 2022 PFL 2 at Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Currently riding a three-fight winning streak, Moraes is confident that after fixing his knee, he’ll be a problem for the rest of the division. “I wish I knocked him out or submitted him, but today is the six-month anniversary of my surgery – ACL and meniscus,” Moraes told reporters following PFL 2

Despite falling short in his last octagon appearance, UFC featherweight Sheymon Moraes has scored a fight with a notable name in Andre Fili . Moraes (11-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) will face Fili (19-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) next week at UFC on ESPN+ 13 from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. Disappointed with the result in his last fight, a unanimous-decision loss to Sodiq Yusuff , Moraes believes he won. He suffered a brief knockdown at the hands of Yusuff but said he controlled the majority of the fight.

Andre Fili vs. Sheymon Moraes among new UFC Sacramento bouts announced

The UFC’s return to Sacramento, Calif. has added a little hometown flavor. The UFC announced several new bouts for UFC on ESPN+ 13 on July 13 at Golden1 Center, including an appearance by Team Alpha Male’s Andre Fili . Fili (19-6 MMA; 7-5 UFC) will compete in NorCal for the first time since 2013 when he meets Sheymon Moraes in a featherweight matchup.
