UFC announced on Saturday that former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will be inducted into the 2024 Class of the UFC Hall of Fame as a Pioneer. The 2024 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place as part of the 12th Annual UFC International Fight Week, on June 27, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “Shogun Rua is one of the greatest Brazilian athletes in combat sports history,” said UFC President & CEO Dana White . “Shogun had an incredible run in PRIDE and UFC, and he was fearless inside the Octagon. His fights against Mark Coleman , Chuck Liddell , Lyoto Machida , and Dan Henderson represent some of the most memorable moments in UFC history and helped put Brazilian MMA on the map. It will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer during International Fight Week.” Rua will enter the UFC Hall of Fame as the 20 th member of the Pioneer Era Wing

‘Shogun’ Rua loses by TKO in final UFC bout

Mixed martial arts legend Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua entered the octagon for the final time on Saturday at UFC 283 inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The former UFC light heavyweight champion, the 2005 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix Champion, and UFC Hall of Famer hung up his gloves after facing Ihor Potieria. Unfortunately for Rua, his final fight ended with him on the canvas. After a competitive three minutes with Rua landing, Potieria connected with a right hand that staggered the Brazilian. Rua quickly returned fire but Potieria kept the pressure on knocking Rua down a right hand

Fresh off the biggest win of his career, Devin Clark is eyeing the top 15 of the light heavyweight division. Clark (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) upset Alonzo Menifield at UFC 250, bouncing him from the ranks of the unbeaten in a hard-fought battle. Clark is currently serving a medical suspension for a damaged left orbital bone, but he’s looking to pick up right where he left off as soon as he’s cleared. Winner of his last two fights, Clark is targeting a bout with Mauricio Rua (26-11-1 MMA, 10-9-1 UFC), who’s currently slated to complete his trilogy with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on July 25 in Abu Dhabi.

The war of words between UFC light heavyweights Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva has been in full swing since Sonnen’s victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 event in Boston earlier this month. Moments after defeating Shogun – a former training partner of Silva’s – Sonnen took to the post-fight microphone and had a few words for “The Axe Murderer.” “Wanderlei Silva, 6-feet tall, 205 pounds; boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high,” he yelled into the microphone. “Wanderlei Silva, three months, you and the bad guy.” Sonnen then strolled out of the cage and the MMA world was set a blaze with another fiery promo from the “Gangster from West Linn.” Silva, who apparently wanted the fight as well, was game for the showdown and made it very clear that he wanted the fight.
