Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Gabi Garcia scored a win over a smaller-sized opponent. Garcia moved to 5-0 today when the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist choked out Veronika Futina (0-1) in an open-weight bout at ROAD FC 47. The event took place at Cadillac Arena in Beijing, where Garcia entered the cage with a massive size advantage. At Friday’s official weigh-ins, Garcia weighed 106.7 kilograms (235 pounds); Futina, who had a contentious build-up with Garcia ahead of the fight, was 86.6 kilograms (191 pounds). The physical advantages were obvious today once they entered the ring.

The 7-foot-2 South Korean giant, a former K-1 and DREAM fighter, took on 6-foot-1 Siala-Mou Siliga in an open-weight tournament final at today’s ROAD FC 33 event in Seoul. In addition to the 13-inch height advantage, 356-pound Choi also had more than 60 pounds on his opponent.

Brandon Halsey (6-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) took care of Joe Pacheco (7-2 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) to reach the middleweight final against Brett Cooper. And Joey Beltran (15-10 MMA, 1-1 UFC) sent Vladimir Matyushenko (27-8 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) out of his career on a losing note with a third-round choke. But “Mighty Mo” believes he’s peaking as an athlete, and his eyes are on championship gold. “Before, I drank a lot and didn’t take it too seriously because I was knocking everyone out,” Siliga told MMAjunkie. “I’d just catch them with my overhand right. I was celebrating and partying too much. Everything is different now.
