The UFC’s first show of 2023 has lost its opening fight the day before the event. Sijara Eubanks (7-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) has been forced out of her women’s flyweight bout against Priscila Cachoeira (12-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) a UFC Fight Night 217 due to weight-cutting issues. A UFC official announced the fight’s cancellation during the official weigh-ins at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Their fight had been scheduled to open the preliminary card at the UFC Apex. The prelims will proceed with six bouts on ESPN+, followed by a fight-five main card that streams on the same platform

Sijara Eubanks will welcome CFFC champion Elise Reed to the octagon. Eubanks (6-6 MMA, 4-4 UFC) takes on Reed (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 191 on July 24, which is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and stream on ESPN+. Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Tuesday but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. “The Ultimate Fighter 26” alum Eubanks will look to snap a two-fight losing skid when she moves back down to 125 pounds for the first time since 2018. After picking up back-to-back wins over Sarah Moras and Julia Avila, Eubanks has since dropped two straight to Ketlen Vieira and, most recently, Pannie Kianzad in December. Meanwhile, CFFC strawweight titleholder Reed will move up a weight class when she makes her UFC debut.

Sijara Eubanks has a new date and opponent for her next UFC bout. “SarJ” takes on Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Fight Night 192 on July 24. Eubanks (6-6 MMA, 4-4 UFC) was originally scheduled to take on Karol Rosa on June 12 at UFC 263, but Rosa had to pull out due to an eye injury. MMA Junkie confirmed the change Friday after an initial report from Combate . The 36-year-old Eubanks enters UFC Fight Night 192 on a two-fight losing skid of decision defeats to Ketlen Vieira and Pannie Kianzad. Prior to the skid, Eubanks had back-to-back wins.

Sijara Eubanks has a new date and opponent for her next UFC bout. Eubanks was scheduled to compete Saturday at UFC on ESPN+ 34 in Las Vegas, but her opponent, Karol Rosa, was forced to withdraw from the bout due to complications cutting weight. Eubanks will no longer fight Saturday and instead will compete next week, Sept. 12, at UFC on ESPN+ 35 against replacement Julia Avila. The news was first reported by MMA Fighting and later confirmed by MMA Junkie
