The fast-rising UFC featherweight (and self-proclaimed “King of Dublin”) recently ventured from Ireland to Las Vegas for meetings with UFC officials, sponsors and other folks. While in Sin City, he got a tour of the Vegas strip in White’s Ferrari. Check out the video as McGregor squeals with delight. The UFC will close out the 2013 schedule with back-to-back pay-per-view events at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. As previously announced, the Dec. 28 UFC 168 event, which features the much-anticipated rematch between new middleweight champion Chris Weidman and ex-titleholder Anderson Silva , takes place at the Sin City venue. Now, the prior PPV event, UFC 167, which features welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) vs. longtime top contender Johny Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC), also is scheduled for the same venue. Forrest Griffin, Stephan Bonnar officially inducted into UFC Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS – Six weeks after Dana White first announced his intentions , the UFC president has now officially inducted retired light heavyweights Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar into the UFC Hall of Fame. White and longtime executive producer of “The Ultimate Fighter” Craig Piligian today made the pair’s enshrinement official at a ceremony that took place at the promotion’s UFC Fan Expo Las Vegas 2013 inside Sin City’s Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Griffin and Bonnar were the light-heavyweight finalists on Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” During the live finale, the two engaged in one of the most memorable slugfests in MMA history, with Griffin coming out ahead with a 29-28 unanimous-decision win. That fight is largely credited with fueling the UFC’s meteoric rise in popularity around the globe, and White has long praised both fighters for their contributions to the company.

Eight years ago, David Mitchell watched Chuck Liddell win the UFC light heavyweight title by knocking out Randy Couture at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Right there, he resolved not to return to the city until he was fighting in the octagon. “Seven-and-a-half years later, that dream comes true,” Mitchell told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “Regardless of what happens, I feel like I’ve already made it.” On Saturday, Mitchell will fight for the first time in Sin City in what is his fourth UFC appearance. It also could be the last time he steps into a cage at all. On his road to the octagon, he’s suffered nerve damage in his spine that once left the left side of his body with a fraction of its usual strength. So Mitchell (12-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC), whose nickname is “Daudi,” feels he’s got little to lose when he walks into the MGM Grand Garden Arena to fight Mike Pierce (16-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) at UFC 162 in the event’s Facebook-streamed curtain-jerker. “This might be my last fight,” he said.

Tim Boetsch certainly isn’t alone in the club of fighters who take the sport seriously. Just try getting other people to understand that fighting in Las Vegas isn’t an excuse to have a good time on the job. Boetsch (16-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) next week takes on Mark Munoz (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) to open up the main card of UFC 162, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Sin City. Vegas over Fourth of July? Come on – gotta be time for a little fun, right?
