Muslim Salikhov landed his signature strike to knock out Song Kenan at UFC Fight Night 248 Salikhov (21-5 MMA, 8-4 UFC), “The King of Kung Fu,” lived up to his nickname Saturday when he uncorked his trademark spinning wheel kick to the head of Kenan (17-8 MMA, 6-5 UFC), who went down in a heap at the 3:49 mark of Round 1 in the welterweight bout at Galaxy Arena in Macau. The kick Salikhov threw has been seen many times throughout his octagon tenure, but it has never landed so clean. He is the first fighter in UFC history to land multiple knockout finishes in the octagon with the technique. The middleweight bout was part of the preliminary card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Garry’s win did not come without adversity

Griffin (17-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) scored a brutal first-round knockout of Song Kenan (15-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in Saturday’s co-headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, which gave him back-to-back wins in the welterweight division. After the pair felt each other out and traded strikes in the first few minutes, Griffin landed a huge right hand that backed Kenan up toward the fence. He followed with another shot that put him down, then one more on the grounded foe to spell the knockout at the 2:20 mark of Round 1

LAS VEGAS – After 13 months away from competition, Song Kenan is anxious to resume his fighting career – both for himself and his country. With MMA and the UFC currently experiencing tremendous growth in China, thanks in no small part due to the success of reigning strawweight champion Zhang Weili, Kenan says she’s proven to be an inspiration for a generation of athletes from her home country. “Zhang Weili becoming champion, this inspired Chinese fighters, made us more confident,” Kenan said through an interpreter at Wednesday’s media day at the UFC Apex. “If she can achieve this, maybe there are more champions that come out (of China).” The 31-year-old Chinese fighter hopes to make himself a candidate for such achievements later in his career.

UFC books Max Griffin vs. Song Kenan for March 20 Fight Night event

A UFC Fight Night is planned for March 20, and the lineup already has its first fight. Welterweights Max Griffin and Song Kenan will square off at the event, which does not yet have a known location or venue at this time. Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Tuesday but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. On Nov. 7, Griffin (16-8 MMA, 4-6 UFC) bounced back from two consecutive losses when he fought Ramiz Brahimaj at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
