The Irishman, regularly surrounded in controversy, teased a presidential run last year and made an official announcement in March that he intended to be on the Irish presidential ballot. Former UFC title challenger and current UFC analyst Chael Sonnen trashed McGregor and his ‘fake’ aspirations to become the Ireland president. “Conor McGregor has withdrawn his pending plans to be the president of Ireland,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel .

He dislocated his big toe, which looked like something out of a horror film, the bone poking through his skin, his toe dangling from his foot. That was nearly five months ago, and Jones now says that he – and his toe – is good to go for Saturday’s UFC 165 main event.

The war of words between UFC light heavyweights Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva has been in full swing since Sonnen’s victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 event in Boston earlier this month. Moments after defeating Shogun – a former training partner of Silva’s – Sonnen took to the post-fight microphone and had a few words for “The Axe Murderer.” “Wanderlei Silva, 6-feet tall, 205 pounds; boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high,” he yelled into the microphone. “Wanderlei Silva, three months, you and the bad guy.” Sonnen then strolled out of the cage and the MMA world was set a blaze with another fiery promo from the “Gangster from West Linn.” Silva, who apparently wanted the fight as well, was game for the showdown and made it very clear that he wanted the fight.

UFC president Dana White was a guest on Wednesday night’s edition of Fox Sports Live, where he unveiled news of Lyoto Machida’s drop to middleweight and received another plea from Chael Sonnen for a fight with Wanderlei Silva . White also, however, defended his friend, Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod is a Major League Baseball player for the New York Yankees, but is currently garnering attention for his alleged role in the Biogenesis performance enhancing drug scandal and subsequent 211-game suspension.
