Ferreira and Santos squared off on the main card of UFC 163 at HSBC Arena on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro. Ferreira had been out of action since winning TUF Brazil last year at UFC 147, dealing with a couple of surgeries and relocating his camp to the Blackzilians, following his mentor Vitor Belfort to Florida. Strikeforce and UFC veteran Caros Fodor is set to make his promotional debut at ONE FC: Champions & Warriors on Sept. 13 when he takes on unbeaten Korean Yang Seung Ho in Jakarta. Fodor was harshly cut from the UFC following a split decision loss to Sam Stout in February in a fight that MMAWeekly.com had him winning 29-28. Prior to that defeat, he had a successful stint in Strikeforce, going 5-1 for the now defunct organization. Yang Seung Ho (6-0) is not as well known as his American opponent, but remains undefeated in an MMA career that began in 2007.

SEATTLE – Miesha Tate must first see whether she’s able to avenge a gruesome submission loss to now-UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey , who took her Strikeforce belt and set the stage for for her rise to stardom. After replacing the injured Cat Zingano , she’ll get a chance to do that when the two rematch at UFC 168 on Dec. 28 in Las Vegas, which follows a stint serving as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 18.” But fans also are interested to know what will happen next if she’s able to pull off the upset. Should Rousey win, most would say that a superfight with newly minted Invicta FC featherweight champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (12-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) would be closer than ever. The logical follow-up to that possibility, which was broached on Friday during a Q&A session with Tate at KeyArena in Seattle, is what would happen if Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is able to pull off the upset. Rousey is a huge favorite to win the fight, with early lines making her an 11-1 favorite. But Tate said she’s calling in a decorated judo player to help prepare her for the grappling skills of “Rowdy.” Besides, upsets are all too common when people start to make fights before they could potentially happen.

Kicking off Saturday’s UFC 162 pay-per-view main card is an intriguing bout between featherweight contenders Dennis Siver (21-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) and Cub Swanson (19-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC). While Swanson, who’s overcome injuries to post a four-fight winning streak, has garnered much of the attention ahead of the Las Vegas event, it’s probably a good time to remember some of Siver’s early work in the UFC. Although the German fighter hasn’t posted a knockout win in nearly four years, his current 10-2 run includes some memorable spinning stuff back in 2009. In one of the bouts, against Nate Mohr , Siver kicked off his second UFC stint in thrilling fashion. Check out the video above for the stoppage. Three Koreans made successful comebacks at Top FC 1 – Original in Seoul on Saturday night. UFC veteran Dongi Yang stopped Jae Young Kim with strikes in the second round of the main event middleweight match-up. Yang was fighting for the first time since his unsuccessful UFC stint and was on the front foot right from the opening bell as Kim continually backed up, using lots of head movement and countering with the occasional low kick or punch. The former UFC fighter looked firmly in control as he landed a head kick that seemed to stun Kim and also executed an early takedown. In the second round, Yang was still stalking his opponent, who eventually got trapped in the corner of the ring and was subjected to a barrage of punches and kicks causing referee John McCarthy to step in and stop the fight. With the win, Yang improved to 10-3, breaking a two-fight losing streak, while Kim dropped to 14-11-0-2 with his second successive loss. He dropped a split decision to Melvin Manhoef at Road FC 9 last September. Also on the comeback trail was Seung Hwa Bang, who has been out of action since 2010, but showed that he is still among Korea’s top lightweights by beating the overmatched Joo Dong Hwan by stoppage due to strikes late in the second round

Fighting for the first time in 18 months felt a little strange for War Machine . The result felt pretty good, though. It took War Machine (13-4 MMA, 1-0 BFC) just under four minutes to stop Blas Avena (8-7 MMA, 1-1 BFC) on Wednesday night at Bellator 96 in his first fight since November 2011. Since November 2011, War Machine re-signed with Bellator (after a stint in 2009 that never came to be when he was released before the promotion’s first event after a MySpace rant about President Obama), gone back to jail, got out of jail, got a shot in a Bellator welterweight tournament, lost that shot when he tore his ACL training, healed up and now, finally, he’s back. War Machine said getting back in the cage after a long layoff didn’t necessarily have ring rust behind it, but there was something he wasn’t expecting. “That’s the thing with ring rust: It doesn’t exist that much,” War Machine told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “You fight like 40 fights in the gym before you ever come to the real fight. But I won’t lie, I was a little more nervous than usual.

Norman Paraisy vs. Leeroy Barnes completes Cage Warriors 57 main card

A middleweight bout between Norman Paraisy (11-3-2) and Leeroy Barnes (12-10) is the final bout added to next month’s Cage Warriors 57 main card. Cage Warriors 57 takes place July 20 at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. The main card streams on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following prelims on Facebook. Aside from Ronnie Mann ‘s opponent, who will be announced next week, the main card is now set. Paraisy, a French fighter, previously competed for Bellator and had a short stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 11.” He recently returned to Cage Warriors in June and fought former champion Chris Fields to a majority draw. Barnes, meanwhile, makes his promotional debut after recently signing a five-fight deal with the promotion. The Englishman has won three of his past four bouts, including recent back-to-back submission wins over Micky Burns and Steven Watson.
