Daron Cruickshank replaces Spencer Fisher, meets Yves Edwards at UFC on FOX 8

“The Ultimate Fighter 15″ cast member Daron Cruickshank (12-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has stepped in to replace and injured Spencer Fisher (24-9 MMA, 9-8 UFC) and now meets Yves Edwards (42-19-1 MMA, 10-7 UFC) at this month’s UFC on FOX 8 event. UFC officials today announced the new booking, the fourth injury-related switch of the day on the FOX-broadcast event. Featuring UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson defending his belt against John Moraga , UFC on FOX 8 takes place July 27 at Seattle’s KeyArena. The evening’s main card airs on FOX following prelims that air on FX and stream on Facebook. Cruickshank vs. Edwards is expected to air on the evening’s FX-broadcast portion. A 16-year veteran of the sport, Edwards made his UFC debut in 2001 and has since fought 17 times for the promotion. In between his multiple stints in the octagon, the “Thugjitsu Master” has also fought under the PRIDE, Strikeforce, EliteXC and Bellator MMA banner, among others.

You may remember Rob Kimmons (25-9) from his time with the UFC and Tyler Stinson (25-9) from his stints with Bellator and Strikeforce. Now, you’ll remember their recent clash due to the carnage. The fighters met this past Saturday at Epic Fight Night 1 in Kansas City, Mo. Unfortunately, one of the Midwestern welterweights left the cage with a first-round TKO loss and a nasty ankle injury. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is slated for a special Fighter’s Cut episode of UFC Tonight on Fuel TV on Tuesday night. During Fighter’s Cut, Rousey sits down and recounts what was going through her head as she walked out for her first championship bout with Miesha Tate . That was when Tate was the Strikeforce champion and Rousey was the “undeserving” challenger whose credentials were being called into question. While many questioned whether she should be in the cage with Tate, Rousey remembers the time fondly, saying, “Let the two pretty girls fight, everybody will love it.” Rousey and Tate have now swapped places as the head into coaching stints on The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 , and then square off at series’ end with Rousey’s UFC belt on the line. UFC Tonight: Ronda Rousey’s Fighter’s Cut airs Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m

Bellator’s Paul Daley vs. Lukasz Chlewicki to headline Cage Warriors 57

Cage Warriors has reached a deal with Bellator to acquire the services of Paul Daley (32-12-2) for a Cage Warriors 57 main event bout with fellow welterweight Lukasz Chlewicki (10-2-1). Officials today confirmed the plans with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). As of now, the agreement calls for just the one Cage Warriors appearance. Cage Warriors 57 takes place July 20 at Echo Arena in Liverpool, which will host its first show since “Cage Warriors 21: Enter the Wolfslair” in 2006. The main card airs on MMAjunkie.com following prelims on Facebook. “I’m looking forward to a fantastic main event in Liverpool on July 20, and I’d like to thank Bellator for their cooperation in allowing Paul Daley to compete for Cage Warriors,” stated Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan, whose company also recently bought out Ronnie Mann ‘s Bellator contract. Daley, an English fighter, is on a 5-1 run that includes stints with Strikeforce and current home Bellator. The former UFC fighter fights for Cage Warriors for the first time since 2008, when he knocked out Bojan Kosednar.
